Nanporo Town

The Furusato Bussan Buro is located in Minami-Horono-cho, and although many of the town's residents have used it before, it is not well known to non-residents. But actually, it seems to be a little-known spot where you can enjoy a wonderful view and have a lunch typical of Minami-Horo-cho. ......

Furusato Bussan Buro" opened in April 2000, is a "base facility for providing information on tourism and products of Minami-horo Town, promoting local industries, and revitalizing and interacting with the local community".
...... may sound like a stuffy place, but it is a familiar facility to the town's residents, as the bus waiting area is located on the first floor.
Looking at the exterior of the facility, the most distinctive feature is the columns that stick out from the square building. The top of the column is a 26-meter-high observation deck on the fifth floor, from which you can see the entire town. 360-degree glass walls provide a pleasant sense of openness!
On a fine day, you can even see the ridge line from Mt. Eniwa to Mt. Teine, so this might be a bit of a hole-in-the-wall spot.
Speaking of hole-in-the-wall spots, the "Minamihoro Tourist Association Snack Corner" on the first floor offers a menu featuring local specialties, so be sure to check it out as well! Let us introduce some of the recommended menus.
The most popular noodle menu is this! The most popular item on the noodle menu is "cabbage kimuchi ramen" (470 yen including tax). The cabbage, a specialty of Minamihoro, is made into kimchi and served with ramen noodles. Unlike Chinese cabbage kimchi, the cabbage is known for its slight sweetness.
The most popular dish on the gohan menu is the "Nanporo Jingisukan Donburi Set" (570 yen including tax). This set includes a bowl of Junya's Nanporo Jingisukan, which has been popular in Minami-horo since 1964, cabbage kimchi, and miso soup. Moreover, all rice dishes on the menu are made with rice produced in Minami-horo, which is very thorough!
The "Tamogi Curry Rice" (500 yen including tax) is also a firm favorite. It contains "tamogitake mushrooms," a mushroom belonging to the family of the flatulaceae mushrooms. Originally rare, tamogitake mushrooms were researched and developed by a company in Minamihoro Town and an artificial cultivation method was established, making it possible to supply the mushrooms nationwide. It is a great learning experience.
If you come to Minami-horo Town and want to eat something typical of Minami-horo, why not visit the Furusato Bussan Buro? Moreover, have you noticed? All the menu items are very reasonably priced!

You can enjoy the scenery and have a lunch that is easy on your wallet, and you will feel like you have discovered another of Nanboro's charms.
