Sapporo City

The figure of Dr. Clark, standing slenderly and pointing straight ahead. The Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill (Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill) is famous for its statue of Dr. Clark, but there is more to it than that. Did you know that you can enjoy various activities in winter? Let's take a look at what kind of activities are available!

Since it is a famous tourist spot, perhaps people outside of Hokkaido may think that Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill is located in the center of Sapporo City. In fact, it is located in a place called Hitsujigaoka, Toyohira-ku, Sapporo, about 30 minutes by car from Sapporo Station. Those without a car will have to take the subway and bus to get there.

Because it is located in such a suburban area, it boasts a large site area and offers a variety of activities during the snowy season. The name of the event is "Hitsujigaoka Snow Park 2022. This year, the event is scheduled to run until Sunday, March 6.

The video at the end of this article will give you a glimpse of what you can actually experience at the park. First, tube sliding.

This is an activity where you ride a tube down a snowy mountain, and since there are single-seater and double-seater versions, even small children can enjoy it with an adult. Surprisingly, even adults can get hooked on this fun activity.

And then there is walking skiing.

Walk through the pure white snow field with skis attached. It is okay if you can't ski! There are short courses available for beginners and small children, so feel free to explore the silvery white world.

We also recommend "mini snowman making," where you can make your own one-of-a-kind snowman. It is fun to make one for each family member and display them side by side. Don't forget to take a commemorative photo with your snowman.

There are many other fun things to do that only a snow country can offer, such as snow slides (mini-slides) and snow huts! Why don't you blow off the cold and have fun with all your might?
