Iwamizawa City

There are many famous spots for poplar-lined streets in Hokkaido. One of them is the poplar-lined street in Iwamizawa City. Let's take a closer look at where you can see the poplar-lined street in Iwamizawa! As you turn onto the road to the amusement park "Hokkaido Greenland" from National Route 234, you will immediately see a view of tall poplar trees lined up in a row, which is quite an overwhelming sight.

In fact, the Iwamizawa poplar avenue is not limited to this road. Once you reach Greenland, the poplar avenue continues whether you turn right or left at the T-junction.

This side road is lined with poplar trees on both sides, which makes it even more spectacular. The straight road and the poplar trees standing up towards the sky cut the space in a straight line, creating a clean and wonderful view. And the row of poplar trees continues on the farm road that runs vertically from the side road.

In other words, if you head towards Greenland from National Route 234, turn right and then onto the farm road, you can see poplar trees along the entire route.

The Iwamizawa Poplar Tree Line in this area is made up of about 470 poplar trees that stretch for about 7,600 m. They were planted between 2001 and 2003, and have been naturally pruned every five years since then.

By the way, if you stand on the observation deck of Iwamizawa Park, you can get a wide view of the poplar trees lined up in Iwamizawa. The view of the poplar trees from above is also spectacular. You can also see the Ferris wheel in Greenland in the same view, making you feel like you're looking down on the world.

This time, we have brought you the Iwamizawa Poplar Tree Line from spring to summer, but the scenery will surely change drastically as the seasons change. If you are interested, why not visit in your favorite season?
