Hokkaido is dotted with viewpoints from which you can enjoy an expansive view of the great outdoors. Among them, we would like to introduce Maoi Bungaku-dai (Literature Hill), a representative view spot in Naganuma Town! Maoi Bungaku-dai is located on top of Chokanzan Mountain, about 5 km from downtown Naganuma. The view spot is marked by a small signboard that reads, "Trail Information Board.

Park your car in the plaza with the sign "Parking Lot" and head for the Maoi Literary Platform. It is less than a minute away from the parking lot, but please note that this parking lot is closed in winter. When you arrive at the Maoi Literature Stand, the first thing that catches your eye is a magnificent literary monument that reads, "Maoi wilderness.

In fact, this monument was erected to commemorate the first Higuchi Ichiyo Prize awarded to Motoko Tsujimura for her full-length novel "Maoi Barano," which was set in Naganuma in the early pioneer days of the area. That is why it is called the "Maoi Literature Stand. And on the other side of the literary monument is .......

The view is breathtaking! The beautiful rural landscape of Naganuma Town and the Ishikari Plain stretches over 180 degrees of your field of vision. The scene, like a patchwork, has a dynamism that is unique to Hokkaido. The urban areas of Kita Hiroshima and Sapporo stretch out in the distance.

On the way up to the Maoi Literary Platform, you will see a signboard that reads, "Boardwalk Information Board." To the left of the signboard is a narrow mountain road. Next, let's walk along this mountain path.

Then you will arrive at the "Director's Mountain Lookout" in an open area. The view from here is different from the one seen from the Maoy Literary Platform earlier, so why not enjoy the view from here as well in a hiking mood? The fantastic evening view is also impressive!
