When you hear the name Iwamizawa Park, people living nearby might think, "That's where Greenland is," or "It's famous for roses." In fact, there is a spot in Iwamizawa Park called the "Observation Deck" where you can see a spectacular view! Let's go and check it out!

Iwamizawa Park is a large urban park about an hour away from Sapporo city, covering an area of about 183 hectares. The park itself is in a hilly area, but the observation deck is located on top of an even higher hill.

First, head to the parking lot at the top of the mountain. It's about a 30-minute walk from the entrance to the amusement park. There is a barrier-free promenade right next to the parking lot that leads to the observation deck, so follow that path. Then, you'll see it up ahead...

A magnificent observation deck! The building itself is 8.7m tall, and when you reach the top, you can see a wonderful view below. This observation deck was built in 2004 (Heisei 16).

You can see not only Iwamizawa Park, but also the tree-lined road stretching across the horizon, and even fields and mountains in the distance. Looking out at this vast green landscape, you can feel your heart expanding and becoming larger.

To the northwest you can see the Ferris wheel in Greenland. From the observation deck, everything looks tiny, like a diorama world. The view of the sky and earth stretching out endlessly is something you can only see in Hokkaido.

There is a parking lot and a promenade, so anyone can easily visit this observation deck. This wonderful view can be seen from 9:00 to 17:00 from spring to autumn. It is closed in winter because it is dangerous. If you can encounter such a magnificent view, there's no reason not to go! If you are in the area, please remember to visit the observation deck.
