Hokkaido

When you think of classic Hokkaido cuisine, Genghis Khan (a Japanese grilled mutton dish) comes to mind! And the key to its deliciousness is the sauce. In Hokkaido, there are two famous companies known for their Genghis Khan sauce: Bell Foods (@bellbell_foods) and Sorachi (@sorachiofficial). It's a frequent debate among Hokkaido locals over which sauce is superior. But now, it seems these two rivals have suddenly gotten close, and it's become a hot topic on Twitter.

The one who (perhaps?) played matchmaker was Matsuo Genghis Khan (@matsuo1956), another legendary, long-established name in the world of Hokkaido's Genghis Khan. So, what exactly happened...?

That Famous Genghis Khan Brand Played Peacemaker

It all started when Matsuo Genghis Khan tweeted that they "had the opportunity to gather around a Genghis Khan grill with Sorachi and Bell Foods."

The people of Hokkaido couldn't hide their surprise at the fact that Bell Foods and Sorachi were companions who would share the "same (Genghis Khan) grill."

The Historic Thaw Happened Suddenly

And then, on August 10, 2022, history was made. Spurred on by this exchange, Bell Foods nervously sent a follow request to Sorachi. You can just imagine the resolve of the social media manager, who had only been at the company for two months, as they clicked the follow button.

After a roughly 20-minute wait... Sorachi noticed and immediately followed back! Bell Foods and Sorachi were officially mutual followers!

At this joyous moment that (perhaps?) changed Hokkaido's history, Matsuo Genghis Khan, who had brought them together, also tweeted in celebration.

In fact, there was another company quietly watching this series of tweets unfold. It was the official account for Tantakatan (@tantakatan_godo), a shiso shochu from Godo Shusei of the Oenon Group, a liquor company that also originated in Hokkaido. They spoke for all the other users watching, tweeting, "I love all of them" and "I feel like I've witnessed a historic moment."

Leading to a Joint Campaign

What's more, this interaction has apparently led to a joint campaign between the four companies! What a brilliant collaboration. Seeing their company names tagged side-by-side is enough to bring a tear to your eye...

What a heartwarming exchange between Hokkaido's representative companies! It truly conveys their passionate love for Hokkaido and their desire to "unite and energize" the region. We'll be keeping a close eye on the excitement from these four companies!
