Winter at Lake Mashu (Teshikaga Town)
A snowshoe hike on the outer rim of Lake Mashu is something I look forward to every year.
On this day, the trees were white with rime ice, creating a beautiful contrast with the deep blue of Lake Mashu.

The deep blue color of Lake Mashu, known for its exceptional clarity, is called "Mashu Blue," and the scenery reflected on the lake's surface is breathtaking!
There are three observation decks, each offering a different view of the lake. Be sure to find your favorite spot! 🔍
An Impressive Steam Locomotive (Shibecha Town)
I took this photo of the SL Fuyu-no-Shitsugen Train as it was moving at Shibecha Station for a switchover.

The "SL Fuyu-no-Shitsugen Train" 🚂 runs for a limited time from January to March between JR Kushiro Station and Shibecha Station.
It has become a winter tradition in Kushiro tourism, attracting many visitors who come not only to ride it but also to see it running through the snow-covered Kushiro Wetland.
Golden Diamond Dust (Kamifurano Town)
The morning light creates art beyond our imagination.
My heart always pounds with excitement before sunrise, wondering what kind of art will appear.
The golden diamond dust that appeared on this day was beautiful enough to make me forget the -21°C cold.

Kamifurano Town, a popular tourist destination for its lavender and nature, also offers beautiful scenery in winter.
Why not visit Kamifurano next winter with the goal of seeing the diamond dust, which can only be seen when the temperature and conditions are just right? ❄
