Enjoy Tokachi to the Fullest at Wakka no Mori, a Glamping & Camping Site Supervised by a Winery!
Wakka no Mori, a glamping facility in Shimizu Town, opened in September 2022. Now, its first full glamping season has arrived. We went to experience what Wakka no Mori has to offer in the summer!
Forget Your Hectic Life and Relax with Glamping
"Wakka" means "beautiful water" in the Ainu language. Wakka no Mori is set amidst a vast natural landscape nurtured by the clear, pure water flowing from the Hidaka Mountains. The site features three dome tents, the first in Japan designed for extremely cold climates, alongside an auto-camping area.
About a 2-hour drive from Sapporo and 50 minutes from Obihiro Airport.
The temperature on this day was a pleasant 16 degrees Celsius.
Upon arrival, you're surrounded by white birch trees with lush green leaves, the scent of grass and trees in the air, and the sound of birdsong. The vast birch forest stretches out before you. Listening to the birds and the rustling of leaves in the wind, you can take a deep breath and feel refreshed. It's the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life for a leisurely stay.
The dome tent has a luxurious atmosphere you wouldn't expect from a tent.
Endless Ways to Have Fun! Saunas, Forest Bathing, and More
At Wakka no Mori, you can stroll through the forest and along the river, or enjoy an optional tent sauna. With foxes peeking out and the sound of the babbling river, the sauna experience in nature is incredibly restorative!
Another recommendation is to enjoy a drink outdoors with a glass of Hokkaido wine from Aizawa Winery. Although these wines are popular and quite rare, you can try almost all of them here since the site is operated by the winery! Feel free to compare the sparkling, red, and other varieties. Whether you're a couple, with friends, or family, you can spend your time just the way you like.
A light rosé sparkling wine, perfect for the first glass.
