Hokkaido Marathon 2023, a full marathon representing the summer in Hokkaido, will soon be held! However, it is rumored that there will be an unusual behind-the-scenes report that "doesn't mention the race at all, but just tells about the attractions around the course" (......). What will it be about?
What is the Hokkaido Marathon 2023?
The Hokkaido Marathon is the only full marathon held in summer in Japan. With a time limit of 5 hours, completing the marathon under grueling conditions has become a status quo, attracting many runners from outside of Hokkaido and even from overseas.
In Odori Park, the starting point of the marathon, approximately 20,000 runners start off at once, signaling the countdown on the electric clock on the Sapporo TV Tower. Many Sapporo citizens will crowd along the roadside to cheer the runners on as they enjoy the sightseeing spots around the city center of Sapporo, including the Hokkaido University campus and in front of the Akarenga Government Building.
