Sapporo Lantern Night," held for the first time in 2022, has been powered up! This time, we will introduce "Sapporo Lantern Festival 2023" where the night sky of Sapporo will become a fantastic world of lantern light.

The "Sapporo Lantern Festival 2023" is an event in which participants' wishes and thoughts are put on lanterns, which are then simultaneously launched into the night sky of Sapporo. Kitchen cars will be set up at the venue, and drone soccer will also be played.

Lanterns are small hot air balloons used in Thai and Taiwanese festivals, but the lanterns used in this event are LED lanterns that do not use fire, so children can enjoy the event safely.

The theme of this event is "Luminous and Vibrant Sapporo. Here are the attractions of each of the "5 worlds" at the venue!

1. "World of Food" with kitchen cars (13:00-18:30)

Kitchen cars offering onigiri (rice balls), sandwiches, hot dogs, and beverages will be open from 1:00 p.m., making it possible for visitors to stop by Nakajima Park.

2. "World of Sports" to experience drone soccer (Registration: 14:00-16:00)

Free experience of "drone soccer," in which 10 glowing drones violently move and collide with each other on the court as they aim for the goal. You will surely experience a new and exciting sense of presence that you cannot experience anywhere else. Registration will be held at the Nakajima Sports Center Gymnasium starting at 14:00.

3. Workshop "Magic World" for making suncatchers (13:45-)

Visitors can try their hand at making suncatchers, which catch the sun's rays, in three one-hour workshops starting at 13:45, with each workshop lasting 45 minutes. It is a great opportunity to create a sparkling suncatcher with your child. Participation is free, and each session is limited to 30 people.

4. YOSAKOI performance and talk show by Shudai Uesugi, "World of the Future

YOSAKOI performance and talk show by TV personality Shudai Uesugi and city-walking researcher Tetsu Wada will be held under the theme of Sapporo's bright future seen from the past.

5. "World of Dreams" with lanterns in the sky at the finale of the event

In the finale of the event, dreams and hopes are put into LED lanterns and flown into the night sky to enjoy a fantastic space created by sound and light.

How to participate in the event?

LED lanterns were sold in advance to the first 700 visitors for 2,000 yen per lantern, but unfortunately this year they are already sold out. On the day of the event, registration will start at 15:00 for those who have purchased in advance only. For those who unfortunately could not purchase the tickets, the viewing is still free of charge.
