Tairyo-bata (Good Catch Flags) and Blue Skies (Hakodate City)

This is a scene from the Minamikayabe Hirome Funamatsuri (Boat Festival), held in the Minamikayabe district of Hakodate for the first time in four years.
It's a lively festival where fishing boats from each area are decorated with Tairyo-bata (good catch flags) to pray for a bountiful harvest.

Hakodate's "Minamikayabe Hirome Funamatsuri" was held this June for the first time in four years! 🏳
It's a festival to give thanks for the rich blessings of the sea and the fishing port, and to pray for a good catch. Fishing boats decorated with Tairyo-bata and lanterns are put on display!
The main event, a thrilling boat race, is also a must-see.

Mt. Hakuun-dake and the Foothills of Mt. Asahi-dake (Kamikawa Town)

This photo was taken in September from Mt. Hakuun-dake, looking towards the foothills of Mt. Asahi-dake (Susodaira).
The "zebra-like patterns" of the lingering snow are wonderful, but the autumn foliage season is just as magnificent. I'm always captivated by the stunning scenery created by the terrain and colors of this area.

The mountains of the Daisetsuzan range are one of the first areas in Hokkaido where you can enjoy the autumn colors. 🍁
Many people will surely visit for autumn leaf viewing in the coming season!
Be sure to enjoy the ever-changing expressions of nature, which vary depending on the time of year and the weather. 👀

A Red-crowned Crane Family (Kushiro City)

I heard that red-crowned crane chicks could be seen, so I visited the Kushiro City Tancho Crane Memorial Park.
The sight of the couple lovingly raising their chicks together was a very moving experience.

A spot where you can observe the globally rare red-crowned cranes in their natural state. 🔍
About 10 cranes are kept here at all times, and it's great that you can see them all year round!
If your timing is right, you might even see fluffy chicks and the precious sight of them being raised by their parents.
