However, Poppo stores are continuing to close nationwide, and in Hokkaido, the Ito-Yokado Obihiro store will close on June 30, 2024, and the Ito-Yokado Tonden store in Sapporo on July 28. This time, we will introduce 5 recommended menu items that you should definitely order from Poppo, which offers great value and can be enjoyed with friends and family!

french fries

First of all, for many, the first thing that comes to mind when talking about Poppo is the French fries. A paper container with the Poppo logo design is filled to the brim with fries, and a small portion is just 180 yen (all prices listed include tax), a bargain. The crispy texture and salty taste are addictive. Other sizes available include a heaping portion for 350 yen and a mega portion for 520 yen, which are also great bargains. We recommend sharing with friends.

Soy sauce ramen

Another very popular dish at Poppo is the "Shoyu Ramen." It has a rich soy sauce soup and original, chewy thin noodles that are perfectly balanced, and it costs just 520 yen. It's so cheap! You can choose from four classic flavors: soy sauce, miso, salt, and tonkotsu. They also offer toppings like boiled eggs and roasted pork for 50 yen for a half portion, or 150 yen for four slices of roasted pork.

Children's Ramen Set

The "Children's Ramen Set" comes with a small bowl of ramen, juice, and a jelly dessert. Many people probably have fond memories of going to Poppo with their families and having their children order this. The soy sauce ramen comes with a generous amount of corn, making this a heavenly set that children will love to eat on their own, all for just 300 yen! In fact, Poppo has slightly revised its prices due to the recent rise in raw material costs, but the price of this set has remained the same. Even those who find eating out with their family too expensive can stop by without worry.

Takoyaki

Poppo's takoyaki comes with a fragrant takoyaki sauce and the aroma of bonito flakes. The plump octopus inside makes for a satisfying meal. There are two types: 8 pieces (550 yen) and 16 pieces (1,000 yen). We also recommend sharing these with friends and family.

Soft serve ice cream Hokkaido milk

Poppo's sweets include the classic "Soft Serve Ice Cream" (250 yen). As the name suggests, the Hokkaido Milk flavored soft serve ice cream is made with rich cream made from dairy products from Hokkaido, giving it a smooth texture. As you can eat authentic soft serve ice cream at a fast food shop, it's no wonder that it has so many loyal fans.

Taiwanese ramen

As part of the "Poppo Ramen Journey" series, they are currently offering "Taiwan Ramen" (630 yen), a local ramen from Aichi Prefecture. The carefully selected Taiwanese minced meat and the rich, deep, sharp, spicy soup will whet your appetite. They also have "Taiwan Mazesoba" (690 yen), so be sure to order one that suits your taste.

Poppo's Gacha

This time, we visited Poppo, located inside the Ito Yokado Tonden store, which is closing on July 28th. As the store sadly closes after 24 years of love, we discovered a gacha machine that gives out a Poppo acrylic keychain along with the message, "How about this as a memento?" Inside are the Poppo logo and menu items such as ramen and fries. It's a slightly surreal and cute item, so be sure to pick one up as a memento.
