As the winter season approaches, the Sapporo Streetcar decorated with "Snow Miku," a character who supports Hokkaido, has begun its annual run. Let's take a look at this year's design!

What are "Snow Miku" and the "Snow Miku Tram"?

"Snow Miku" is a character created to support Hokkaido, born from a pure white snow sculpture of "Hatsune Miku" made for the 2010 Sapporo Snow Festival. The costume design for the "SNOW MIKU" festival, where Snow Miku is the star, is chosen from public submissions based on a yearly theme. The Sapporo Streetcar wrapped in that year's Snow Miku design is known as the "Snow Miku Tram." It made its first run in 2011 and has been attracting a lot of attention from fans with each new design.

The theme for the 2024 Snow Miku costume is a "feast inspired by Hokkaido's winter." The tram's body is adorned not only with Snow Miku but also with illustrations of iconic Hokkaido foods like soup curry, ramen, and Genghis Khan barbecue. Just looking at it is enough to make you hungry!

While the Snow Miku Tram designs often feature blue hues, this year's design catches the eye with its wonderfully warm color palette. Based on the costume design by shiro, which was chosen from public submissions, illustrator Yu created the main visual.

The Tram's Interior is Also Full of Snow Miku!

Inside the tram, you'll find a lineup of posters showcasing the history of the Snow Miku Tram. There are also posters of Hatsune Miku and other Virtual Singers, as well as autographs from the voice actors of Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin/Len.

Autographs are also on display next to them.

Furthermore, during this period, the in-tram announcements will be made by Saki Fujita, the voice actress for Hatsune Miku! It's truly a dream come true for fans.

The "Snow Miku Tram 2024" will be in operation until March 24, 2024 (Sun). The arrival times at major stops are posted on the Sapporo City Transportation Promotion Corporation's website, so please check it before you go. Additionally, the annual festival "SNOW MIKU 2024" has also been confirmed. This year marks the 15th anniversary, and the main event will be held at Wing Bay Otaru on February 10 (Sat) and 11 (Sun/Holiday), 2024.
