AOAO SAPPORO Celebrates 1st Anniversary! New "Museum Marche" Opens July 2nd to Spark Curiosity in Wildlife
AOAO SAPPORO, the urban aquarium in Sapporo's Tanukikoji district, is celebrating its first anniversary in July 2024 by opening a new shop inside the facility! This museum marche, named "GOOD CONNECTION," will feature multiple stores and offer different exhibits and events each season. So, what kind of experience awaits?
"Shiretoko Sustainable Station" Showcasing the Charms of Shiretoko

The Shiretoko Shari Incorporated Association, which promotes the charms of the World Natural Heritage site "Shiretoko" and sells products from Shiretoko and Shari Town, is opening its first-ever external visitor center, "Shiretoko Sustainable Station." The station will feature photo exhibitions of Shiretoko, sell merchandise of its symbol "Shiretoko Toko-san," and host events to share the nature and culture of Shiretoko.

"WONDER BOOKS," a Bookstore to Encounter the Wonders of Life and Living Creatures
A new bookstore, spun off from the "LIBRARY AQUARIUM (Room of Observation and Discovery)" zone on the 5th floor of AOAO SAPPORO which features exhibits combining books and aquariums, is set to open. With the cooperation of "Bunkitsu Roppongi," a Tokyo-based "bookstore for encountering books," it will host special exhibitions that use books as a gateway to the wonders of living creatures.
A bookstore with an admission fee where you can "savor culture." In December 2023, it held a collaborative exhibition with AOAO SAPPORO titled "Fin Exhibition: The Reading Aquarium."

"WONDER WINE," a Pop-up Shop for Hokkaido Wines
This pop-up shop will introduce and sell wines from Hokkaido. In cooperation with the Hokkaido University Center for Research and Education of Hokkaido Wine, it will feature distinctive wines that capture the charm of Hokkaido's nature and cuisine.

This research center was established within Hokkaido University to conduct educational research for the sustainable development of Hokkaido's wine industry. It covers not only natural science fields such as meteorology, soil science, viticulture, enology, agricultural engineering, and agricultural economics, but also social sciences, working on educational research and human resource development for the sustainable growth of the wine industry.

New Key Visuals Also Unveiled
To mark its first anniversary, AOAO SAPPORO is rolling out new key visuals that express the in-house experience through onomatopoeia. Using catchy, repetitive words like "nyoro-nyoro" (wriggling) and "yura-yura" (swaying), these fun visuals represent the enjoyment AOAO SAPPORO offers to visitors of all ages.
