The annual Urasando Summer Festival will be held on Sunday, July 13th, at Maruyama Urasando, near Hokkaido Shrine. Popular local shops set up stalls and street performances are held, making this a festival deeply rooted in the local community. We will introduce the details of what will be held.

Maruyama Ura-sando is an area located between Nishi 20th and 25th blocks on Minami 1-jo Street, close to Maruyama Koen Station. Maruyama was originally selected as a place to worship the god of Hokkaido's development in the early Meiji period. Along with Omotesando, Ura-sando was built as an approach to Hokkaido Shrine. Once a farming area, it eventually began selling processed foods and daily necessities, and developed into a shopping street. With the opening of the Tozai Subway Line in 1876, a succession of unique shops opened. It began to attract fashionable young people and became established as a trendy spot.

The Ura-Sando Summer Festival is a local festival where popular local stores set up stalls and perform street performances. This year, it will be held on Sunday, July 13th, and the area from West 20th to 25th Street on Minami 1-jo Street will be closed to vehicles from 11:00 to 18:00.

The joys of festivals include delicious food and the unique atmosphere of the food stalls that can only be enjoyed on that day. At this year's Ura-sando Summer Festival, many stores will be open, allowing visitors to enjoy gourmet food and merchandise.
