Maruyama Urasando is an area located between West 20-25 chome of Minami 1-jo Street, not far from Maruyama Koen Station. Maruyama was originally selected as a place to worship the god of Hokkaido's pioneering spirit at the beginning of the Meiji period. The back approach as well as the front approach was built as an approach to the "Hokkaido Shrine. Once a farming area, Maruyama soon developed into a shopping district selling processed foods and daily necessities, and with the opening of the Tozai subway line in 1076, unique stores began to open one after another.
