■Subject / Location & Time
Sapporo Soft Stone / Sapporo City Archive Museum, January 2024

■Artist's Comment
Having endured wind and snow for many years, the dignified佇まい of the archive museum makes it my favorite building.

・Tetsuhiro Sakaguchi / Fierce Run

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Hokkaido's Horse Culture / Otofuke Town, January 2021

■Artist's Comment
The 'Umaoi Undo' (horse herding exercise) is a winter tradition. The power of the large horses kicking up snow as they gallop towards you is breathtaking.

・Hiroaki Uesugi / From a Place Overlooking the Dome

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Wakkanai Port North Breakwater Dome / Wakkanai Park, May 2023

■Artist's Comment
This is the breakwater dome as seen from Wakkanai Park. The deer walking in the gentle spring sunlight was impressive.

・Shuji Uemura / Ishikari River Shining in the Spring Evening Sun

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Ishikari River / Hamacho, Ishikari City, April 2020

■Artist's Comment
The Ishikari River originates on the western slope of Mount Ishikari in the Daisetsuzan mountain range, travels 268 km through 22 municipalities, and has only about 2 km left of its long journey. Bathed in the still chilly spring evening sun, it seemed to be enjoying the end of its journey with a leisurely flow.

・Shinobu Maekawa / Purely Gushing Forth

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Kyogoku Fukidashi Spring Water / Kyogoku Town, August 2024

■Artist's Comment
The scene, hazy with water vapor, was fantastical.

・Mizue Tsuyama / Even in Decay

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Former JNR Shihoro Line Concrete Arch Bridges / Nukabira Gensenkyo, Kamishihoro Town, October 2023

■Artist's Comment
The Taushubetsu Bridge spans Lake Nukabira. After its opening in 1939, it was submerged due to dam construction, but it is also called the "phantom bridge" because it appears and disappears with changes in the water level. Even now, after more than 80 years, its decaying form still moves our hearts. It is a treasure I hope will remain forever.

・Yuka Watanabe / Wetland Morning

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Uryunuma Mire / Uryunuma Mire, June 2023

■Artist's Comment
A view with a wooden path, walking while feeling the morning dew on the wetland grass at my feet.

・Toru Hino / The Garden in the City

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Sapporo Soft Stone / Sapporo City, June 2024

■Artist's Comment
I captured the stately Sapporo Soft Stone building of the Sapporo Archive Museum and the roses of the adjacent Odori Park Sunken Garden. I believe the Sunken Garden is a rare and beautiful garden in Japan, located in the center of Sapporo, a city of 2 million people. It is always well-maintained, and you can see the efforts of the unsung gardeners. This flower garden thrives thanks to their behind-the-scenes work.
I think this scenery creates a splendid harmony with the roses only because of the stately atmosphere of the archive museum. Who could ask for more!

・Matsumi Kamasawa / Sunset on Notsuke Peninsula

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Notsuke Peninsula and Utasebune Boats / Notsuke Peninsula, July 2024

■Artist's Comment
My first visit to Notsuke Peninsula in summer coincided with the full bloom of Ezo daylilies. As I was photographing the daylilies illuminated by the setting sun, I suddenly heard a rustling sound. An Ezo deer appeared and started eating the flowers. I was able to capture a beautiful sunset scene while watching humans admire the flowers and animals eat them.

・Noriyuki Hatabata / Withstanding Giant Blocks of Ice

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Former JNR Shihoro Line Concrete Arch Bridges / Taushubetsu River Bridge, Lake Nukabira, February 2020

■Artist's Comment
I was moved by the scene of the phantom bridge, which rises and sinks in Lake Nukabira with the seasons, lifting huge blocks of ice.

・hokkaido_photonao / Dynamic

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Lake Mashu / Lake Mashu No. 3 Observatory, June 2024

■Artist's Comment
The fog flowing into Lake Mashu like a waterfall, bathed in the morning sun and moving like a living creature, was a spectacular sight.

・michi312ant / A Path of Light Leading to the Sea

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Shakotan Peninsula and Cape Kamui / Ebisu Rock and Daikoku Rock, Yoichi Town, September 2024

■Artist's Comment
I went down to the shore and took the photo up close. The sunlight hitting the sea surface felt dazzling and divine. The sunrise from this spot became a deeply impressive and scenic memory. From the blue hour sky before dawn until the sun rose, it was a very beautiful sight. I would like to visit again in a different season.

・nogu_1022 / Town of Drift Ice

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Drift Ice and the Garinko-go Icebreaker Ship / Mombetsu City, February 2024

■Artist's Comment
Garinko-go II. The Garinko-go III is a new ship, but I actually prefer the II. Because its form and body color are lovely ❤️

・now_forest / Then and Now, the Sun Rises

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Medieval Residences of Kaminokuni / Iozan Shrine, Kaminokuni Town, August 2024

■Artist's Comment
On a midsummer morning, I photographed the moment the rising sun overlapped with the torii gate. It's a spectacular view that I want to pass down to future generations.

・chi_cchia / Ryuunkaku in Spring

Hokkaido Heritage Photo & Tanka Challenge 2024

■Subject / Location & Time
Shizunai Nijukken Road Cherry Blossom Avenue / Shinhidaka Town, May 2022

■Artist's Comment
Ryuunkaku was built as a guest house for the Imperial Stock Farm at the end of the Nijukken Road Cherry Blossom Avenue in the town where I was born and raised. After passing through the 7km cherry blossom avenue, I want people to see it from a little distance with the cherry blossoms, just like in this photo.
