Conveniently located right by Tanukikoji 5-chome
La'gent Stay Sapporo Odori offers excellent access, located near Odori Station and the Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade. Its great location and wallet-friendly prices make it a fantastic choice for a casual meal. It's also a pioneer of the recently popular main-dish-plus-half-buffet style, and it has many fans who visit frequently to enjoy the monthly changing menu.
The interior is open and spacious with large windows. Plenty of seating allows for a relaxed experience.
Counter seats are also available, making it a great spot for solo diners.
A main dish and buffet from the ¥2,000s is an incredible deal!
This buffet lets you choose one of five monthly main dishes, and the price varies depending on your choice. However, with prices starting from ¥2,500 (tax included), it's an amazing value for a meal that includes a half-buffet and an elegant dessert plate!
The half-buffet includes salad, appetizers, soup, curry, bread, desserts, and more.
Enjoy appetizers like a course meal before the main dish
While waiting for your main dish, you can enjoy the appetizers. There are about four kinds of hot and cold appetizers each. They feature a good balance of meat, fish, and vegetables, and the flavors aren't too strong, so you can go back for seconds of your favorites. It's also fun to combine the cold appetizers with the salad greens to create your own unique dish.
The hot appetizers, rich in vegetables, have a gentle flavor that highlights the natural taste of the ingredients.
There are also hors d'oeuvre-style meat dishes and elaborate salads.
The vegetable mousse is a secret favorite. Today it was sweet potato (may not be available on all days).
Don't miss the extensive drink corner
This lunch buffet is popular with women for its many healthy options, and the drink corner is another reason why. I was personally impressed by the homemade detox vinegar drinks and fruit smoothies. The selection changes, but having a drink that can cleanse your palate is a huge plus at a buffet where you want to try many different dishes. Of course, coffee and other beverages are also available.
Use the sweet and sour vinegar drink, full of fruit extract, as a palate cleanser!
The long-awaited main dish is generously portioned
After enjoying various appetizers, the main dish arrived. Be warned: it's a full-sized portion, so be careful not to overdo it at the buffet beforehand. If you want to focus on the buffet, I recommend the pasta. If you want to savor the main dish, go for the meat or fish. With its authentic Italian or French flair, the quality is high enough to be the star of a course meal.
The five main dishes generally change monthly, but sometimes they change seasonally.
You can reheat the bread in a toaster
Of course, you'll want some bread to go with your main dish. You can warm up meal-friendly breads like croissants, multigrain bread, and baguettes in a toaster to enjoy a fragrant, freshly baked flavor. The fact that they use a high-quality "Aladdin" toaster, popular among bread lovers, shows their attention to detail.
The Aladdin toaster makes bread crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Dessert is served as an elegant plate
While buffet desserts are typically a lineup of small cakes, here you also get an elegant dessert plate worthy of a fine dining course. The monthly dessert plate is an elaborate creation with beautiful sauces and garnishes. With a wide selection of teas and herbal teas, you can enjoy a truly elegant tea time.
Tea lovers will appreciate the extensive selection of herbal teas and black teas.
Even the herbal tea looks beautiful in a glass cup with a built-in strainer!
What? Still have room? Finish with the dessert buffet
I was quite satisfied after the main dish and dessert plate, but I couldn't leave without trying the dessert buffet! There's always room for dessert, right? (Didn't I just have dessert?). But first, a palate reset with some curry. You can't leave a buffet without trying the curry, can you? This main dish & dessert plate + half-buffet, which offers the best of both a course meal and a buffet, was an outstanding value!
Mini cakes perfect for when you just want a little taste.
The spicy soup curry is recommended as a break between desserts!
Why I'll Be Back!
The appeal lies in getting the best of both worlds: a course lunch with a main dish and dessert plate, plus a half-buffet. And it's all reasonably priced from the ¥2,000s. Personally, the wide variety of herbal teas is also a big plus.
