The special exhibition "Spring Aquarium" will be held at the urban aquarium "AOAO SAPPORO" in Tanukikoji, Sapporo from March 26th (Wed) to April 23rd (Wed). In addition to the first display of seaweed and blue tangs that are in season in spring, and the sale of lucky items made from the ornamental feathers of northern rockhopper penguins, new spring products such as "Seasonal Shime Parfait" will also be available. There are plenty of events that you'll want to visit during your spring break, make memories with your loved ones, or take a break from your new life.

As the snow melts, spring is slowly approaching in Sapporo. In this season when we can hardly wait for the cherry blossoms to bloom, AOAO SAPPORO will be holding a special exhibition that will allow you to feel the spring, which is unique to an aquarium.

"Wonders of Algae" exhibit features algae that are in season in the spring

AOAO SAPPORO is known for its algae, with rows of tanks where they grow seaweed such as green laver. In the LABORATORY on the fourth floor, two types of seaweed that are in season in spring and the herbivorous fish "Aoba tang" will be exhibited for the first time.

Craft Aquarium "Let's find pearls!"

This program teaches you about Akoya oysters, a bivalve mollusc used in pearl farming, and actually extracts pearls.

Special experience program "Spring AOAO NIGHT"

This is a collaboration event between a night aquarium and live music performance, featuring "THE CHARM PARK." Participation is possible only with the admission fee to AOAO SAPPORO.

Lucky charm "Lucky Feather"

This is a power item made from the ornamental feathers of the Northern Rockhopper Penguin, perfect for those who want to bring good luck to their new life. It would also make a great gift as a talisman! Only 10 pieces are available for sale.

Another enjoyable thing about AOAO SAPPORO is the gourmet food you can enjoy at the Shirokuma Bakery & inside the building. As the cherry blossoms are expected to bloom around April 24th, cherry blossom themed gourmet food is now available. Get a head start on spring.

Seasonal finishing parfait: "Spring-scented Yozakura Parfait"

The "Yozakura Parfait" is a limited time offer with a cherry blossom motif only available after 5pm. It is a Sapporo specialty that we highly recommend to tourists as a finishing touch to your meal.

Cherry blossom drink with glowing jellyfish (sour/soda)

The popular glow-in-the-dark drink series now has a spring-like cherry blossom version. In addition to the cherry blossom soda float and cherry blossom soda, there is also an alcoholic cherry blossom sour.

There are also events where you can purchase tickets in advance to participate. Museum tours aimed at elementary school students are a great way to create memories over spring break.

This popular tour takes you behind the scenes at the aquarium, and focuses on the new algae exhibit.

A paludarium is an aquarium that recreates the environment of a tropical rainforest or wetland. This is an experiential event where you can create your own small paludarium and take it home.
