A Historic Aquarium, the First in Japan to Successfully Breed Seals
The video was posted by Hakuhime-san, an "azaraa" (a Japanese term for a seal enthusiast) who travels across the country to visit facilities with seals. This was their first visit to the Muroran Minpo Minna no Aquarium, specifically to see Satsuki-chan, the seal famous for banging on a Kerorin bucket.

The Muroran Minpo Minna no Aquarium was the first in Japan to successfully breed both Kuril seals and spotted seals. Hakuhime-san says that although it's not a large facility, it's incredibly charming, including the playground equipment on the grounds. At one point, its closure was considered, but it was kept open thanks to the passionate support of local citizens. Hakuhime-san is one of the people who supported the aquarium through the "Furusato Nozei" (hometown tax) donation system.
Full of Seals with Unique Personalities!
As you can tell from the video, one of the biggest draws is seeing the seals' unique and vibrant personalities. At this aquarium, the male and female seals have separate pools. During feeding time, the male pool is said to erupt with excitement, much like an all-boys' school.
