The long-loved "Catepri" in Shin-Sapporo will no longer be known as such, and will undergo a major renovation to become the new "Sunpiazza" in September 2025. The interior design will also be revamped, and new stores, campaigns, and noteworthy events will be opening one after another. Here is a summary of the renovation details.

With this renewal, the name Catepuri, which has been familiar since 2000, will be discontinued, and the existing Sunpiazza will be expanded and unified. As a result, the two buildings, Sunpiazza and Duo, will become a new commercial space with approximately 250 stores. The flow of customers within the building will also be reorganized, such as by concentrating stores in the same category, and the layout will be reorganized to combine purposeful shopping with ease of movement.

The new Sunpiazza also uses wood and wood-grain panels on the exterior and interior, creating a warm and inviting space.

In addition, the event space on the first floor of the former Catepuri building has been renovated and opened as a "living room for the town" equipped with movable benches. It can be used not only for events, but also as a place for everyday outings and meetings.

This renovation will see the opening of nine new stores, including an apparel shop opening for the first time in Hokkaido, the tea specialty store "Lupicia," and the handmade hobby store "Yuzawaya."

In addition, a special gift campaign will be held to commemorate this renewal.

September 6th (Sat) to 15th (Mon, holiday): Gift campaign

During the campaign period, customers who spend 1,000 yen or more (tax included, cannot be combined) at Sanpiazza, Catepuri, or Duo specialty stores (some exclusions apply) will receive an application ticket with a serial code (one per transaction). 700 people who apply through the application form will be entered into a lottery to win shopping vouchers, travel vouchers, and more.

In addition, for the four days from September 12th (Friday) to September 15th (Monday, holiday) when the store will be reopening, a campaign will be implemented to increase the probability of winning by doubling the usual one entry ticket to two.

September 12th (Friday) to 15th (Monday, holiday): A total of 1,000 customers will receive a daily gift with their purchase over the four days.

250 customers each day who bring a receipt for purchases of 2,000 yen or more (tax included, can be combined) made on the same day at Sunpiazza Duo Aeon Shin Sapporo store will receive a commemorative gift to commemorate the renewal.

In addition, to commemorate the reopening, there will be events such as sales of products developed by high school students and cosplay events.

September 12th (Fri) and 13th (Sat): Hokkaido High School Commercial Education Fair

Twenty commercial high schools from across Hokkaido will set up booths in the "Hikari no Hiroba" on the first floor of Sunpiazza to sell products they have developed themselves and local specialties.

September 13th (Sat) and 14th (Sun): Shin Sapporo Cosplay Festa 3 #ShinSatsuCos

This cosplay event was born from the desire of students at Sapporo Gakuin University to "establish a new culture in New Sapporo." This year, the third time the event is being held, it will be held for the first time over two days, with nine locations in the area open to photo opportunities, as well as stage shows and bingo tournaments.

September 15th (Monday, national holiday), 23rd (Tuesday, national holiday), 27th (Saturday) from 14:00: Sunpiazza Wind Orchestra Festival (planned)

Performances are scheduled by the Hokkai Gakuen Sapporo High School Wind Orchestra on the 15th (Monday, national holiday), the Sapporo Nihon University High School Wind Orchestra on the 23rd (Tuesday, national holiday), and the Hokusei Gakuen University High School Wind Orchestra on the 27th (Saturday).
