The Sapporo White Illumination, a signature event of Sapporo's winter, will celebrate its 45th anniversary starting November 21. What began in 1981 at Odori Park with about 1,000 light bulbs has now grown into one of Japan's most iconic winter spectacles. The Odori Park venue will feature fantastical symbolic objects, while the illuminations extend to Sapporo Ekimae-dori, Kita 3-jo Hiroba (Akapla), Minami 1-jo Dori, and the Sapporo Station South Exit, enveloping the entire city in a warm glow.

The lights at the Odori Park venue will stay on until December 25, while other venues will continue to be illuminated until February or March of the following year, beautifully coloring Sapporo's long winter. 2 2025 Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo: An Authentic German Christmas Experience

The Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo, which brings a festive flair to Sapporo's winter, will be held again in 2025 at Odori Park 2-chome. From November 21 to December 25, the venue will be bustling with an authentic atmosphere, featuring booths selling Christmas goods that evoke the culture of Sapporo's sister city, Munich, as well as food stalls offering authentic sausages, beer, and Glühwein (mulled wine). It's the perfect event for a winter outing with family and friends.

During the event, special daily activities for all ages will be available, including Santa Claus greetings and an Advent calendar. Odori Park at night will be enveloped in warm light and fragrant aromas, making Sapporo's winter even more romantic. 3 Sapporo Mono Village 2025 Autumn: Hokkaido's Largest Handmade Festival

Sapporo Mono Village is Hokkaido's largest handmade festival, bringing together creators from all over the region. Held at the Daiwa House Premist Dome, this event showcases a wide variety of handmade works, including accessories, miscellaneous goods, pottery, and fashion. The 13th event, held in May 2025, featured approximately 1,927 booths and attracted over 25,000 visitors.

The venue will host various attractions, including the ever-popular "Pan Village" and a special booth celebrating the 10th anniversary of the TV anime "Osomatsu-san." A "handmade village" where you can find one-of-a-kind creations will be born again this year.
