From here, we introduce the Hokkaido landscapes photographed by Naoto Kisanuki.
The photographer behind these shots is Naoto Kisanuki. The photos of Lake Kussharo were taken on January 24th of this year. He explains, "I've been visiting Hokkaido every winter for the past five years to work on a photo book. Although the book is already complete, I came back to Lake Kussharo to once again capture its beautiful scenery and the elegant grace of the swans."
Kisanuki also shared his thoughts on the charm of Lake Kussharo and its surrounding area:
In winter, Lake Kussharo offers a chance to see ever-changing scenery, from the lake freezing over and creating ice ridges to the sight of swans sleeping in the early morning. The surrounding area is rich with beautiful nature, including Mt. Atosanupuri, Bihoro Pass, and Lake Mashu. And if you get tired, it's a place that offers healing, where you can rest in the onsen town of Kawayu.
The majestic nature unique to Eastern Hokkaido and the tranquility of the lake where swans dance—a special landscape that, as seen in Kisanuki's photos, can only be encountered in winter. We hope you'll have the chance to experience the beauty of Lake Kussharo with your own eyes.
