Do you know what was launched at a certain Japanese and Western confectionery store in 2017 and slowly became a hot topic in Ishikari, where it is now a popular product among those in the know?

The name of the product is "Kuzu Bar.
Its strange name and colorful appearance, which looks like an ice cream popsicle, are very appealing. However, they are completely different from popsicles. Let's find out the truth.

The shop is "Nakamura Japanese and Western Confectionery," which was founded in Ashibetsu in 1945 and has been in business for nearly half a century after moving to its current location in Ishikari City. The red storefront is cute and has a very confectionery-like atmosphere.
Colorful kuzu bars are stored and sold in the store's freezer. From their appearance, you may wonder, "How are they different from popsicles?" You may think, "How is it different from a popsicle? You will be surprised when you eat it! It is a completely new sensation. The texture is soft and smooth, and there is no sharp sensation like that of a regular popsicle. Of course it's cold, but it doesn't stain your teeth and has a gentle texture.
The true identity of the crap bar is actually kudzu flour. It is made by boiling kudzu flour and granulated sugar with water and adding various fruit juices. The natural sweetness of the fruit juices is the same as the texture of the bar. In addition to strawberry, blueberry, mango, white peach, etc., seasonal flavors will also be added, making it hard to choose just one. Incidentally, lemon and orange will be available seasonally from May 1, 2021, so be sure to check them out (the photo below is orange).
The price is 180 yen per bottle (tax included). They are not only delicious when chilled in the freezer, but can also be enjoyed with a different sensation when melted. In any case, the kuzu bar offers a unique eating experience that only a kuzu bar can provide, so why not give it a try? If you bring it as a souvenir, you will surely be surprised and pleased.
