If you go to all this trouble, you would like to buy a souvenir unique to Furano to take home with you.
We recommend Aunt Jam's Jam Studio, a store directly managed by Furano Jam Garden, which produces various kinds of jams.
The colorful jams seem to evoke the scenery of Furano and are sure to please. Let's check out what kind of jams are available.
Furano Jam Garden, where Auntie Jam's Jam Kobo (hereafter referred to as "Jam Kobo") is located, was originally developed as a farm in 1974. On the farm, out-of-spec carrots were disposed of. After much trial and error, carrot honey jam was born in 1982. This was the beginning of the jam workshop.
The additive-free jam made on the farm quickly gained popularity. It was sold to hotels and department stores, and finally in 1988, the farm was renovated as Furano Jam Garden.
Today, when you visit the jam factory, you will be overwhelmed by the wide variety of jams available. It is surprising to learn that there are 38 varieties of jams sold on a regular basis alone.
Some of the jam sets are cutely wrapped and make great souvenirs. Of course, you will definitely want to buy a variety for yourself as well. So I asked the staff at the store to tell me what their most popular jam is. The answer they returned was ...... "Haskap Jam" (864 yen including tax)!
After all, it seems that jams typical of Hokkaido are preferred. Haskap jam has a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, and goes well not only with bread, but also with yogurt and cream cheese. Just one of these jams is sure to upgrade your morning table.
In addition to jams, the jam studio also offers 100 items in 70 varieties, including dressings and miso. Further in the back is a corner called "Aunt Jam's Sweets Studio," where you can try unusual sweets such as croissant catalana and haskap au lait.
We encourage you to look around the entire store and savor all the charm of the Jam Kobo. It is inevitable that your eyes will wander and time will fly by in no time.
