Furano City

Furano is a popular tourist destination. If you're here, you'll want to buy some souvenirs that are unique to Furano. We would like to recommend "Auntie Jam's Jam Factory," a shop directly managed by "Furano Jam Garden," which produces many different kinds of jam. The colorful jams are reminiscent of the scenery of Furano and are sure to please. Let's take a look at what kinds of jams are available. Furano Jam Garden, where Obaasan Jam's Jam Factory (hereafter referred to as the Jam Factory) is located, was originally opened as a farm in 1974. On the farm, carrots that did not meet the standards were disposed of. After much trial and error to find a way to use these carrots, Carrot Honey Jam was born in 1982. This was the beginning of the jam factory. The additive-free jams made at the farm quickly gained popularity and began to be sold at hotels and department stores, and finally, in 1988, the farm was renovated and renamed "Furano Jam Garden." If you visit the jam factory today, you will be overwhelmed by the sheer variety of jams available. I was surprised to learn that there are 38 different types of jams on sale.

They also have jam sets that are cutely wrapped, making them perfect as souvenirs. Of course, you'll definitely want to buy some for yourself too. So, we asked the store staff which jam is the most popular. The answer they gave us was... "Haskap Jam" (864 yen including tax)!

It seems that jams that are characteristic of Hokkaido are popular. Haskap jam has an excellent balance of sweetness and sourness, and is said to be good not only for spreading on bread, but also for yogurt and cream cheese. Just one of these jams will surely upgrade your breakfast table.

In addition to jams, the jam workshop also has a total of 100 items in 70 varieties, including dressings and miso paste. Further in, there is a corner called "Auntie Jam's Sweets Workshop," where you can try unusual sweets such as croissant catalana and haskap au lait. Be sure to take a look around the store and fully appreciate the charms of the jam factory. You'll be distracted and time will fly by.
