Harvesting tour to experience the appreciation for vegetables and the joy of harvesting.
The tour I participated in this time was a corn and mini-tomato harvesting experience, starting at JR Brumuro Station.
Our guide this time was Mr. Oikawa of the NPO Qucurcus.
After borrowing an electrically power assisted bicycle, helmet, and gloves, we set off immediately.
After a short ride through the city center, we entered a vast field.
We stop to learn the difference between corn for food and corn for feed, and ask questions such as, "What is planted here? We cycled for about 15 minutes, asking questions such as, "What is planted here?
We arrived at the corn field of Mr. Takano, a young farmer who takes pride and dedication in his farming.
Before entering the field, we put on covers over our shoes to prevent the crop from getting sick, and finally began the experience of harvesting the sugarcane!
This time we were allowed to harvest the "Gold Rush" variety. I was told to try the freshly picked peppers raw, so I bit into one and found it to be very sweet and juicy! So I bit into it and found it to be very sweet and juicy!
The sweet corn grown in the town of Brimuro, a major sweet corn production area, was very tasty and impressive.
After enjoying the corn, we visited Mr. Takano's mini-tomato greenhouse, where he also grows mini-tomatoes, to experience harvesting them.
Mr. Takano tells us that these mini-tomatoes are of the "Carol" variety.
Glossy and sweet, it was a delicious tomato that I couldn't stop eating!
If you are lucky, you may even meet Mr. Takano's family dog or cat.
Enjoying the vast landscape of the town of Brimuro, cycling while feeling the air, and being impressed by the taste of freshly picked vegetables. It was truly a fulfilling time to enjoy the charms of the town of Brimuro with all five senses.
We hope that you will enjoy the town of Brimuro with all your senses and become a fan of the town!
We spoke with Mr. Oikawa of the NPO Qucurcus, which operates such "Memuro Scattering".
We want participants to experience more than just seeing the scenery of the town of Memuro. Through interaction and experience with people, we want to bring more fans back to this town! I would be very happy if the number of fans who want to come back to this town increases through interaction and experiences with people.
Mr. Oikawa himself has traveled to many places in the past and knows from first-hand experience that the most important thing in becoming a fan is "people and connections.
I value communication with the tour guides and the people at the places we stop during the tour to help them make connections.
