New Year's Horseback Shrine Visit at Hakodate Hachimangu

This is the annual New Year's horseback shrine visit at Hakodate Hachimangu Shrine. It was a powerful sight to see a rider in Yabusame (horseback archery) attire on a native Dosanko horse charge up the 134 steep stone steps to the shrine grounds.
