Rusutsu Onsen, where you can enjoy hot spring water from the source for 300 yen, is a place of relaxation for village residents.
On the way from Sapporo to Lake Toya over the Nakayama Pass, you will see a sign that catches your attention. The sign, standing alone in the middle of a field, reads "Rusutsu Onsen" (Rusutsu Hot Springs). Is there really a hot spring in such a place? I was a bit nervous, but I continued on in the direction indicated by the arrow and found .......
Eventually you will see a building with a triangular roof. There it is, indeed! It is the Rusutsu Onsen we are going to introduce to you this time. Even the parking lot is fully equipped.
This place was originally built as a village facility in 2000. At the time, there were no public bathhouses in Rusutsu Village, so this hot spring facility was created to promote the health of the villagers and to provide a place for them to relax. Therefore, there are no open-air baths or saunas. However, there is no doubt that you can enjoy the wonderful hot spring water from the source.
The spring water is sodium chloride and bicarbonate hot spring (low tonicity, slightly alkaline, high hot spring). It is translucent, smooth, and not too hot, and is reputed to be hot enough to stay in for a long time. Since the facility was built to promote the health of village residents, the initial fee was set low, and for this reason, it is also available to the general public for as low as 300 yen. (*As of October 2021)
The interior, with its abundant use of wood, also has a somewhat relaxing atmosphere, and by the time you leave, you will find that you have been completely healed both physically and mentally. If you happen to pass by the spa, you will surely want to go back to .......
