Rusutsu Onsen is a small hot spring with a triangular roof that stands in the fields of Rusutsu Village. It was originally built to promote the health of the villagers, but it is open to the public as well. Let's go and see what kind of hot spring it is!
On the way from Sapporo city, crossing Nakayama Pass and heading towards Lake Toya, an interesting sign catches your eye. The sign, standing alone in a field, reads "Rusutsu Onsen." Is there really a hot spring in a place like this? I was worried, but I continued in the direction the arrow was pointing...
Soon, a building with a triangular roof comes into view. There it is! This is Rusutsu Onsen, which I will be introducing this time. There is even a parking lot.
This was originally built in 2000 as a village facility. At the time, Rusutsu Village did not have a public bath, so this hot spring facility was built to promote the health of the villagers and to provide a place of relaxation. As such, it does not have an open-air bath or sauna. However, one thing is certain: you can enjoy the wonderful hot spring water straight from the source.
The spring quality is sodium chloride bicarbonate hot spring (hypotonic, weakly alkaline, high temperature). It is translucent, smooth, and not too hot, so it is well-known that you can stay in the water for a long time. Because the facility was built with the aim of improving the health of villagers, the initial fee was set low, so even general visitors can use it for the low price of 300 yen. (As of October 2021)
The interior, which makes ample use of wood, has a relaxing atmosphere, and by the time you leave you will have completely healed both body and mind. If you happen to be passing by, you will definitely want to come back again... this is the kind of hot spring facility that will make you feel that way.
