Morimoto, a confectionery shop known to all Hokkaido-area residents, will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2019, and the Chitose Main Store has also reopened after renovation. We will introduce the air of the newly renovated main store as well as the store's recommended products! Is your favorite sweet in the store?

Even if you have never actually visited the store, perhaps you may know it from product exhibitions and other events outside of Hokkaido. Morimoto is a familiar name in Hokkaido, offering a full line of western and Japanese sweets and even breads.
The interior of the Chitose main store, which was renovated in December 2019, is a space with plenty of woody warmth, as if you are taking a walk in a forest. It's also spacious enough to enjoy shopping in a relaxed atmosphere.
Still, there are so many kinds of food that you might have a hard time deciding which one you want to try. So we asked the staff at the store to give us their recommendations. First of all, let's start with this one!

Speaking of Morimoto, one cannot miss their synonymous product, "Kita no Chiisana Cake Haskap Jewelry". Jam and butter cream made from the sweet and sour fruit, Hokkaido Haskap, are sandwiched between cookies, which are then coated with chocolate. It has a refined taste just like a jewel.
Next, from Japanese confectionery, we recommend "Blissful Strawberry Daifuku Yume," a Chitose Honten limited edition. It is a one-of-a-kind bite-sized strawberry daifuku made with Hokkaido strawberries, which are addictive with their moderate sourness and juiciness. The strawberry-like appearance is also cute and exciting.
Actually, Morimoto is also a store specializing in delicious cakes. Among them, the "Morimoto Mont Blanc" limited to the Chitose main store is a product that truly embodies the Mont Blanc that is engraved in the hearts of the Japanese people! The harmony of the yellow marron paste and cream will make you smile.

Also from the Cake Corner, how about the "Nanamaru Puff," a Chitose Main Store exclusive? The crunchy dough type cream puffs are filled with melted custard cream! Everyone from children to adults will love the taste, and it would make a great souvenir.
Now, let us introduce you to the limited-edition products made and sold by Japanese confectionery artisans who make red bean paste every morning. It is called "Chitose Honten Tezukuri Dorayaki," which is handmade in the store. The plump shape of the dorayaki reveals how generously filled with red bean paste it is.

Freshly baked ones are lined up as soon as they run out at the store, so if your timing is good, you may be able to get a warm dorayaki! (*Once sold out, the shop will close.)
Yes, there are even customers who come to Morimoto just for the dorayaki. Even if you don't go to the main store, there are always several different kinds of dorayaki on the shelves, so be sure to compare them. It is interesting to see the differences in the beans used.

There are many more Morimoto products that I have not been able to fully introduce. Whether you buy them as a reward for yourself or as a gift for someone special, they will surely add color to your daily life.

We were shown Morimoto baking dorayaki at its Chitose main store! Please take a look!
