Morimoto is a confectionery shop that is well known to all Hokkaido residents. In 2019, the Chitose main store celebrated its 70th anniversary and was reopened after renovation. Here, we will introduce the new atmosphere of the main store and the products recommended by the store! Is your favorite sweet included?
Even if you have never actually visited the store, people from outside Hokkaido may know it from product fairs, etc. Morimoto is a familiar store in Hokkaido, offering Western and Japanese sweets, as well as bread.
The interior of the Chitose main store, which was renovated in December 2019, is a space filled with the warmth of wood, making you feel like you're taking a walk in the forest. The spaciousness makes it perfect for enjoying shopping at your own pace.
However, there are so many varieties that you might end up wanting to try everything. So we asked the staff at the store for their recommendations. First of all, this!

When talking about Morimoto, one cannot leave out their signature product, "The Little Cake of the North, Haskap Jewelry." Jam and butter cream made from Hokkaido haskap, a sweet and sour fruit, are sandwiched between cookies and coated with chocolate. It has a taste as elegant as a jewel.
Next, from the Japanese sweets section, we recommend the "Happy Strawberry Daifuku Yume," which is only available at the Chitose main store. Made with Hokkaido strawberries, this one-of-a-kind bite-sized strawberry daifuku is addictive with its moderate sourness and juiciness. Its cute strawberry-like appearance will get you excited.
Morimoto is also a specialty cake shop and it's delicious. Among them, the "Morimoto Mont Blanc" that is only available at the Chitose main store is a product that truly embodies the Mont Blanc that is engraved in the hearts of Japanese people! The harmony of the yellow chestnut paste and cream will make you smile.

Also in the cake section, how about the "Nanamaru Choux" that is only available at the Chitose main store? This crunchy cream puff is filled with melting custard cream! It's a flavor that everyone from children to adults will love, and it would make a great gift.
Now, let us introduce you to the limited edition products that are made by Japanese confectioners every morning. They are handmade in the store and are called "Chitose Main Store Handmade Dorayaki." You can see how much bean paste is stuffed into them from their plump form.
As soon as they run out of stock in the store, freshly baked dorayaki will be put on display, so if you're lucky, you might be able to get some warm dorayaki! (※Ends once sold out)
Yes, some customers visit Morimoto just for the dorayaki. Even at the main store, there are always several kinds of dorayaki on display, so be sure to try them all. It's interesting to see the differences in the beans used.
And there are still many more products at Morimoto that we haven't been able to introduce. You can buy them as a reward for yourself, or as a gift for a special someone, and they are sure to brighten up various scenes in your daily life.
※We were shown how the dorayaki are baked at Morimoto Chitose Main Branch! Please take a look!
