Sapporo Scenic Byway: Mt. Moiwa Sanroku & Jozankei Route
Located in the southwestern part of Sapporo, just 30-60 minutes from the city center, this area is easily accessible and offers a harmonious blend of a "rich environment" and the "lives of the people" who live here. It's a fascinating area where you can experience history from the pioneer days to the Olympics, learn at art museums, workshops, science museums, and universities, and enjoy nature activities like camping, skiing, canoeing, horseback riding, forest walks, and fruit picking in the great outdoors, which includes mountains over 1,000 meters high, hot springs, and a national park.

Enjoy dishes made with plenty of locally sourced ingredients while gazing at Mt. Hakken and the vineyards. At the marche, you can shop for vegetables delivered fresh every morning from local farmers, wines from the proud Hakkenzan Winery, and processed goods. Enjoy the things you can only buy and eat here, and the scenery you can only see here.

Night View from Sapporo Mt. Moiwa Ropeway
Take the ropeway up to the 531-meter summit of Mt. Moiwa, and from the observation deck, you can see a panoramic view of Sapporo's nightscape, which has been selected as one of Japan's "New Three Major Night Views." Especially in winter, the city lights and illuminations of Sapporo sparkle even more beautifully under Hokkaido's clear air. At the summit restaurant, "THE JEWELS," you can enjoy this night view along with French cuisine made with Hokkaido ingredients.

Horseback Riding Experience at Wild Mustangs
This is a facility at the foot of Mt. Hakken where you can enjoy Western-style horseback riding. Staff dressed as sheriffs will teach you the basics of riding, so even beginners can feel at ease. After a lesson in the paddock, you can also enjoy trekking on an outside course led by the staff. Why not try horse trekking through the great outdoors?

Bonfire Experience at Sapporo Jozankei Nature Village
An outdoor education facility where people of all ages can enjoy a variety of seasonal nature experiences and outdoor activities. In addition to tent sites, there are permanent cottages and tent houses, and a wide range of rental items such as bonfire stands and BBQ sets are available. There are also plenty of hands-on programs where you can learn about nature while having fun, such as rice cooking in a traditional pot (hangō) and stone oven cooking experiences, both with lectures from guide staff. The winter bonfire experience is also highly recommended!

Sapporo Art Park
The park is dotted with facilities such as an indoor art museum that holds special exhibitions, an outdoor sculpture garden where you can enjoy art in nature, and workshops where you can participate in craft experiences. In addition to enjoying a walk in nature, seasonal events are also held. The photo shows "Path to the Hidden Garden" by Dani Karavan in the outdoor sculpture garden.
