Illuminations add a romantic touch to the cold season. The Otaru Canal is decorated with blue lights for three months from November to January. We especially recommend visiting during the blue hour after sunset, when the blue of the illuminations combines with the blue of the sky to create a fantastical experience.
The "Night Cruise" canal cruise, which operates on a boat decorated with blue illuminations to match the "Blue Canal," is also very popular. Be sure to enjoy the seasonal illuminations from the boat!
