Japan is known as the kingdom of aquariums. Hokkaido has the greatest number of aquariums in Japan. Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe is one of the largest aquariums in Hokkaido, boasting the largest number of exhibits and breedings. It is home to around 20,000 sea creatures from around 400 species. What is most surprising is its exterior. The building, modeled after the ancient castle of Denmark, Ejsko Castle, is more like a castle than an aquarium. An extraordinary world based on the theme of "Nordic romance and marine fantasy" unfolds inside the aquarium.
