Science Cafe "Thinking about Immunity through Molecular Biology"

Date and Time

2025/12/21

15:00~ (about 2 hours)

Our guest will be Dr. Kou Fujinaga, Associate Professor at UCSF (University of California, San Francisco) School of Medicine, who will talk about cutting-edge research on the topic of "immunity" from the perspective of molecular biology research!

This year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Shimon Sakaguchi for his research in the field of "immunology."
Immunology research is one of the fields in which Japanese researchers are active.
Takashi Fujinaga is one of the researchers at the forefront of immune-related research through his research into the mechanisms of the HIV virus.

Mr. Fujinaga is originally from Sapporo and graduated from Sapporo Minami High School. After graduating from the Faculty of Science at Hokkaido University, he continued his research at an institution in the United States. He is a very friendly and relaxed person.

Take this opportunity to ask some simple questions from an amateur's perspective and ask about future prospects!
Students can also ask questions about what they should study during their school days.

(*UCSF School of Medicine is ranked 5th in medical school research and 1st in pharmaceutical sciences in the US university rankings, and is one of America's leading research institutions, having produced many Nobel Prize winners. The famous Shinya Yamanaka is also enrolled.)
