Ebeotsu Town is a small town in the north. The people who live there light lanterns in hopes of happiness for all. Their warm light creates a fantastical glow in the silver evening darkness that envelops the station building. This year marks the 13th anniversary of the "Ebeotsu Akari Monogatari" event, which takes place at JR Ebeotsu Station and a stretch of land about 150 meters south of the station. During the event, the road will be closed off and over 2,000 paper bag lanterns will be set out. There will also be food and drink stalls, a concert inside the station, and fireworks.
