A rich lineup including the performance of the masterpiece "The Bear" by Pocket Kikaku, a collaboration live of music, sand art, and dance, and a talk event that deeply explores Chekhov from a specialized perspective.
Amidst the severe cold of the northern land, Chekhov's world, which depicts the warmth, humor, and dearness of people's lives, quietly resonates with Sapporo in February. Please enjoy such a moment—where you laugh, feel a little sad, and a lingering impression remains deep in your heart—at Theater ZOO in winter.
【Program】
■Live "Shadows of the Frozen Ground: Sand Art, Body, Overtone"

Performers: Nohana Minami... Takako Saga [Sand Art Performance, Recitation], Haruhiko Saga [Morin Khuur]
● Dance × Music "On the Harmfulness of Tobacco"

■Play: "The Bear" (Pocket Kikaku)
The widow Popova has continued to seclude herself at home since losing her husband. Her servant Luka advises her, "Why don't you go out to change your mood?" Just then, the landowner Smirnov arrives, saying he has an important matter. Popova refused to meet him, but Smirnov, without much greeting, demands repayment of the money he lent to her deceased husband. The parallel discussion that began this way gradually develops into a fierce clash of their respective views on men and women, and finally Popova exclaims to Smirnov, "You rude bear!"...
Pocket Kikaku performs the short comedy that Chekhov completed when he was 28 years old!
