Maeda Forest Park
Comprehensive park with half of the park area covered by forest. The 600-meter-long canal and rows of poplar trees are symbols of the park.
This comprehensive park was built over a period of 10 years from 1982. Based on the concept of surrounding the entire city of Sapporo with green areas, the park was developed as a base for the Teine area. Half of the park, including the Hometown Forest, Gutsu-no-Mori (Gathering Forest), and Wild Bird Forest, is covered with forests, and in autumn, poplars, Japanese rowan trees, and other trees turn brilliant colors. The symbol of the park is the canal (600 m long and 15 m wide) that stretches straight toward Mt. The fresh air is perfect for jogging and walking. In winter, cross-country skiing, snow trekking, and other snow activities can be enjoyed.
