Overview

This is the place where Dr. W.S. Clark, the vice principal of Sapporo Agricultural College, stopped by on his way back to Japan in April 1877 and left his very famous words of wisdom "Young men, aspire to greatness" for his students. A monument was erected in 1950.
The Dr. Clark Monument is located on the grounds of the former Shimamatsu Ekimae Station.
