National Historic Site Former Shimamatsu Post Office
A post station was equipped with a station house and horses to provide accommodation and transportation.
Although there were more than 600 such stations in Hokkaido, this is the oldest building in Hokkaido that preserves the structure of such a station in those days.
There is also a monument in the garden that reads, "Young men, aspire to greatness, the birthplace of cold-weather rice cultivation.
