Hamamasu Local History Museum (Ishikari City Designated Cultural Property / Former Shiratori Family Banya)
This facility is a restored and modernized local history museum of a herring net fishing banya. The exhibits mainly show the fishing industry from the Meiji to Showa periods, giving visitors a glimpse of what it was like in those days. This building was originally a guardhouse for herring net fishing built by the Shiratori family in 1897. After the herring fishing stopped in the 1950s, the building was restored and used as a local museum. Fishing tools, daily necessities, and dioramas used in those days are on display to pass on the conditions of those days to future generations.
