Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium
Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium is an aquarium that boasts one of Japan's largest freshwater tanks, where visitors can observe the ecology of salmon and various freshwater fish from the northern regions.
In addition, a salmon movie introducing the life of a salmon is shown, and there is Japan's first 'Underwater Observation Room' where you can directly see into the Chitose River, allowing you to observe the seasonal creatures of the river. Among these, the schools of salmon heading upstream to spawn are a must-see. Besides events such as the release of salmon fry, many special exhibitions are also held.
