SPOT
Midorigaoka Park
A vast, 50.5-hectare general park with over 90 years of history, located within walking distance from Obihiro Station. In spring, the cherry blossoms are beautiful, and in autumn, the autumn leaves are stunning. The park is bustling with many visitors who come to see the rich wildlife, including Ezo squirrels, wild birds, and plants like Adonis ramosa and Cardiocrinum cordatum.
In the 'Wild Grass Garden,' you can observe about 380 species of plants native to the Tokachi region, and in the 8-hectare lawn area 'Green Park,' you can enjoy a sense of openness not found in the city. Additionally, many people enjoy the Obihiro Centennial City Museum, where you can learn about the local and natural history of Tokachi; the Hokkaido Obihiro Museum of Art, where you can encounter works related to Eastern Hokkaido; as well as the Obihiro Zoo and the Obihiro Children's Hall.
It is recommended to first check the park's highlights at the 'Midori to Hana no Center' visitor center, located in the northwest of the park, before starting your walk.
