SPOT
Midorigaoka Park
This is a large comprehensive park of 50.5 hectares with a history of over 90 years, located within walking distance from Obihiro Station. The park attracts many visitors with its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall, as well as Ezo squirrels, wild birds, and a rich variety of wild plants and animals, such as fuchu-jyu and obayuri (day lily). In the "Wild Plant Garden," visitors can observe approximately 380 species of plants native to Tokachi, and in the 8-hectare lawn "Green Park," visitors can enjoy a sense of openness that they cannot experience in the city. In addition to the Obihiro Centennial Memorial Museum, where visitors can learn about the local and natural history of Tokachi, and the Hokkaido Museum of Art, where visitors can see artworks related to the eastern part of Hokkaido, the Obihiro Zoo and Obihiro Children's Hall are also enjoyed by many visitors.
We recommend that you first check out the highlights of the park at the "Green and Flower Center," a visitor center located in the northwest of the park, before heading out for a stroll.
