SPOT
Midorigaoka Park
Located within walking distance of Obihiro Station, this vast 50.5ha comprehensive park has a history of over 90 years. It is bustling with visitors, with beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall, as well as a rich variety of wildlife such as Hokkaido squirrels, wild birds, ambrosia flowers and giant lilies.
At the Wildflower Garden, you can observe about 380 species of plants native to Tokachi, and at the 8-hectare lawn area, Green Park, you can enjoy a sense of openness that you can't experience in the city. In addition, many people enjoy the Obihiro Centennial Memorial Hall, where you can learn about the local history and natural history of Tokachi, the Hokkaido Museum of Art, where you can encounter artworks related to eastern Hokkaido, the Obihiro Zoo, and the Obihiro City Children's Hall.
We recommend that you first check out the park's highlights at the Green and Flower Center, a visitor center located in the northwest of the park, before heading out for a walk.
