Melody Bridge

"Kitano Bridge" constructed in Showa 57

From the fact that it was considered the construction of the town's last permanent bridge, the then-Mayor Kobayashi gave instructions, saying, "Utilize a part of the construction costs to make it a bridge with some distinctive feature," and the person in charge devised "a bridge that plays sounds."
From the fact that it was also the school route for the children of Kitano Elementary School, they gained an idea from the sight of children walking while holding umbrellas and making sounds on the bridge's railing, etc., and constructed a bridge that plays a tune when you hit the rebar while walking.
From among children's songs, "Yuyake Koyake" was selected as the tune, with the thought that children returning home after school could enjoy it.
By the fact that it was Japan's first "bridge that plays melodies," it was widely taken up, and from that fact, it came to be commonly known as "Melody Bridge."
