SPOT
Hokusei Lavender Garden / Hokusei Ski Resort
A lavender field in summer and a ski resort in winter
A hill of relaxation surrounded by colorful flowers in summer, and a silvery white slope where skiers gather in winter, this is a symbol of the town that can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons.
Summer: Hokuseiyama Lavender Garden
While admiring three kinds of lavenders spread all over the mountain, take the 7-minute sightseeing lift to the top of Hokusei Mountain. You can enjoy the typical Nakafurano scenery of the Tokachi Mountain range and rice paddies. It is also the site of the Lavender Festival and Fireworks Display, the summer festival of the Furano region.
Winter] Hokusei Ski Area
A portion of the slopes are unpaved so that visitors can enjoy a miniature backcountry experience on the slopes the morning after a snowfall. In winter, the ski lifts are usually open from the second week of January to early March, depending on the snowfall.
