SPOT
Kobushi Touen Kobushi Kiln
The oldest kiln in Hokkaido opened in Iwamizawa in 1946. They produce mainly vessels with blue sea squirt glaze (Namakoyu) and other tableware. Tours of the studio are also available.
The "pottery-making experience" is also popular! Visitors can try their hand at both hand-wheel and hand-painting to create their own one-of-a-kind piece of pottery.
KOBUSHI-YAKI is typically known for the blue color of its sea squirt glaze, which changes to a more subdued and tasteful hue the more you use it. We invite you to find your favorite vessels.
