Guest House

In 1898, the Date family, which had settled and pioneered settlements in Ezo from Sendai, was stripped of its samurai status by the Meiji government. However, the family was restored to the samurai class for its efforts in promoting the development of Usu County, and Kuninari, the head of the family, was made a baron. The guesthouse was built as a symbol of the Date family's pioneering efforts. The guesthouse was used as a place to entertain the Kaitakushi (Hokkaido Development Commissioner) and high-ranking government officials who came to inspect the progress of pioneering activities in the area.
