SPOT
Lake Kanayama is an artificial lake created by the Kanayama Dam, a dam built on the uppermost reaches of the Sorachi River. The lake is home to many fish species and is famous for being home to the "phantom fish" Itou. In winter, the lake is completely frozen over, and ice fishing for wakasagi (smelt) is popular.
