Around the mountain lodge, there are many natural trees and planted trees that bloom flowers in spring and trees that change color in autumn, and besides that, it is a forest park rich in green and water where there are walking paths, gazebos, ponds, etc.
In spring, even at the foot of the mountain, many wild flowers such as Shirane Aoi, Katakuri, etc., bloom flowers, and in summer, on the summit plateau of Shokanbetsu-dake, you can see alpine plants such as Koumebachisou and Chiguruma, etc.
Also, Shokanbetsu-dake's mountain climbing trail is also maintained, and you can traverse to Uryu Town via Minami Shokan-dake, Uryu Marsh.
There are four courses: "Forest of Babbling Brooks" to get familiar with the waterside around Shokan Lodge, "Forest of Chirping Birds" where many wild birds sing, "Forest of Clear Streams" to stroll along the path of wild flowers along the mountain stream, and "Forest of Mountain Views" where Shokanbetsu-dake can be seen up close, and even people who are not good at mountain climbing can fully enjoy the magnificent nature of Shokanbetsu-dake, and camping is also possible around the mountain lodge.
