SPOT
Forest of Streams
The area around the mountain lodge has many natural and planted trees that bloom in spring and change color in fall. It is also a forest park rich in greenery and water, with walking trails, azumaya, and a pond. In spring, many wildflowers, such as Japanese hollyhock and Japanese chestnut, bloom at the foot of the mountain, and in summer, alpine plants, such as koumebachisou and chinguruma, can be seen on the plateau at the top of Mt.
Shikamaribetsu, and you can traverse to Uryu Town via Minami-Sessan-dake and Uryu-numa. There are four trails: "Seseragi no Mori (forest of streams)" to familiarize yourself with the waters around Shokanso, "Sasagiri no Mori (forest of chirping)" where many wild birds sing, "Seiryu no Mori (forest of clear streams)" to walk along the path of wild flowers along the mountain stream, and "Bogaku no Mori (forest of watchtowers)" where you can see Mt. Shokansubetsu up close, allowing those who are not good at climbing to enjoy the magnificent nature of Mt. Shokansubetsu and camping is also available near the mountain lodge.
