Former Rumoi Saga House Fishing Ground
In Kōka 1 (1844) of the Edo period, Hachidai Heinojo of the Saga family first opened a herring fishing ground in Reuke-cho in Rumoi, and it is a fishing ground that has operated herring fishing for 113 years until Showa 32 (1957) since then.
The buildings that exist now are the main house (banya), considered to be built from the Edo period to the early Meiji period, a Tota warehouse built in Meiji 36 (1903) to store products, a boat warehouse to store boats, a corridor to temporarily store offshore-caught herring, and an Inari shrine which is the guardian deity of the fishing ground.
