Nenohi Park

Nenohi Park, which overlooks Lake Akkeshi, was originally a 120,000-square-meter park called Suikoen, cherished by the late Mr. Koki Nenohi, who served as the mayor of Akkeshi Town from 1923 to 1935. The town acquired the park in 1962.

Afterward, the town planted over a thousand additional Ezo-yamazakura (Oyamazakura) cherry trees, which are the town's designated tree. It is now beloved by many as a famous cherry blossom spot surpassing Kokutai-ji Temple, and as a venue for various events such as the spring 'Sakura and Kaki (Oyster) Festival' and the autumn 'Kaki (Oyster) Festival'.

In addition to Ezo-yamazakura and Yaezakura, the park also features Fugenzo cherry trees, which are rare in Hokkaido. There is also a combination playground for children and walking trails for enjoying forest bathing, making it an enjoyable place to visit even outside of the cherry blossom season.
