In the past, there was a place called "Hawanota (voiced beach)" given by the Ainu people, and in 1986, a survey confirmed that the Itanki-hama area was the first beach in Hokkaido to be known as a voiced sand beach.
Narusuna refers to sand that makes a squeaking sound due to friction between sands, and has been confirmed at more than 30 locations throughout Japan.
